Composite bonding repairs chips, closes small gaps and restores worn edges. We use tooth-colored resin, shaped by hand and matched to your smile, usually in a single appointment. Here are answers to the questions we hear most.
Rebuilds broken edges seamlessly.
Closes spaces without orthodontics.
Restores length lost to grinding.
Masks stains whitening can't lift.
Tooth-colored fillings, no metal.
Composite bonding uses a tooth-colored resin that we apply, sculpt and harden with a curing light, right on your tooth. It can repair chips, close small gaps, reshape teeth and fill cavities without metal.
Both. It restores damaged or decayed teeth, and it improves the shape and color of healthy ones. Many patients get both benefits in one visit.
Anyone with minor chips, gaps, worn edges or discoloration and otherwise healthy teeth and gums. For larger damage or heavy biting forces, we may recommend a crown or veneer instead.
Usually about 30–60 minutes per tooth, and most cases are finished in a single visit.
Most cosmetic bonding is painless and needs no anesthesia, because little or no enamel is removed. If bonding is filling a cavity, we’ll numb the area first.
We choose a resin shade that matches your natural teeth, and can layer several shades for a lifelike result. If you plan to whiten, do it first, since resin won’t change color with whitening.
Typically 5–10 years, depending on where it is, your bite and your habits. Touch-ups and polishing at checkups help it last longer.
Composite resin can pick up stains over time, especially from coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco. Rinsing after these drinks and keeping up regular cleanings helps.
Brush twice a day, floss daily and keep your regular checkups. Avoid biting nails, pens or ice. If you grind your teeth, a night guard protects your bonding.
Yes. One advantage of composite is that small chips can usually be repaired in one quick visit, without replacing the whole restoration.
Cost depends on how many teeth are treated and how complex each one is. Bonding is usually one of the most affordable ways to improve a smile. We’ll give you a clear estimate before we start.
When bonding repairs decay or damage, insurance often covers part of it. Purely cosmetic bonding usually isn’t covered, but our membership plan and financing can help.
